Gaining ground – Sweden seek to upset the stakes

Though they were disappointed to finish sixth at the 2015 European Championships in Spain, narrowly defeated by the hosts in their final fixture, the Swedish women’s programme has continued to be active – testing themselves against the reigning European Champions, Finland, each year.

Though they’re yet to get the better of their Baltic neighbours, they’ve continued to close the gap – especially over recent seasons, when the blue and gold side came up just a single point shy against the Finns in 2018.

As such, their rivals would do well to not underestimate the Swedes coming into these championships, as Head Coach Christian Forsman believes they’re fielding their strongest roster to date.
