Hosts hope to hoist first international title

Hosting their first ever International tournament, the GB Lions Women are coming into this week of action with their eyes on the prize.

Having earned success at the 2017 IFAF Women’s World Championships with a fourth-place finish (highest-ranked non-North American team) the Lions are hungry to pick up a title having already proven once that they’re capable of taking on the best in Europe, getting the better of Finland in the opening fixture of the World Championships.

Coach Messenger’s squad is stacked with veteran talent from that tournament, but also some great additions to the GB roster who’ve shone over the recent Sapphire and Diamond Series – the domestic leagues in the UK.

With a schedule building up to what’s hoped to be a climactic battle against Finland as the final fixture, will the home crowd help lift the Lions to success this summer?
